Briefing
The day started for Edgewatch’s newest patrol with a briefing from the acerbic Lieutenant Grospek Lavarsus. Lavarsus dis not seem keen on the latest raw recruits that have been supplied to him, but he was resigned to doing his duty. The only assignment for the patrol was to calm things down at the Tipsy Tengu, where a group of adventurers were getting a little rowdy…
The Tispy Tengu
That night at the bustling Tipsy Tengu, Absalom’s finest rookies from the Edgewatch proved their mettle in a confrontation that could have gone very wrong. Amidst the lively chatter and flowing ale, the heroes—Cole Umburo, Catis, Glum, and Arrem Kyndari—arrived on the scene, unknowingly walking into a night of escalating tensions and drunken revelry.
The Calm Before the Storm
The Tipsy Tengu is no stranger to rowdy patrons, but this particular night felt charged with a different energy. The Edgewatch agents mingled with the crowd, gathering information and making connections. Cole Umburo, a sharp-eyed investigator, struck up a conversation with two regulars, Hendrid Pratchett and Ralso, trying to read the room. Things seemed calm until a mug sailed through the air, striking Hendrid square in the face—a clear signal that tensions were brewing.
Meanwhile, Glum, the enthusiastic goblin fighter, hatched a plan with Cole to diffuse the situation by demonstrating their strength. In an impressive feat, Cole launched Glum across the bar, earning a chuckle from the onlookers and, more importantly, a nod of respect from Bolar, one of the bar’s more aggressive patrons. For a moment, it seemed as though the heroes had everything under control.
Diplomacy and Drunken Gods
Arrem Kyndari, a devout cleric of Abadar, took a more diplomatic approach. Spotting Antaro, a worshipper of Cayden Cailean, among the rowdy crowd, Arrem engaged him in conversation. With calm words and a gentle reminder of Cayden’s ideals of peaceful revelry, Arrem encouraged Antaro to stay calm and avoid any trouble. Thanks to his timely intervention, Antaro remained a passive observer when the conflict eventually boiled over.
Sparks Fly: A Tense Situation Escalates
Things took a turn when Catis, the swashbuckling human, decided it was time to impose some order. Approaching Skebs, a particularly drunk and belligerent regular, Catis used his Edgewatch authority to place him under arrest. However, this show of force didn’t go down as smoothly as intended. Bolar and Miriel, Skebs’ drinking companions, quickly rose to his defense, and what began as a verbal confrontation escalated into a brawl.
Glum, who had tried earlier to reason with Skebs, wisely backed away when the situation intensified. However, when the fists started flying, he was quick to join Catis in the fray. The two worked in tandem, their coordinated efforts allowing them to subdue and cuff Skebs amidst the chaos. Cole, using his combat prowess, grappled with Bolar, managing to knock him out and secure him with cuffs before things could escalate further. Miriel, seeing her allies restrained, wisely surrendered rather than face the Edgewatch’s wrath.
A Successful Cleanup
Thanks to the Edgewatch squad’s quick thinking and teamwork, the fight was resolved without significant damage to the tavern or injury to its patrons. The heroes escorted Bolar and Skebs to the Edgewatch jail, leaving the Tipsy Tengu’s patrons to return to their revelry. Antaro, thanks to Arrem’s guidance, remained calm throughout, proving that diplomacy still has its place in a world of steel and magic.
For the rookies of the Edgewatch, the encounter was more than just an arrest—it was a chance to prove their skills, build their reputation, and establish their presence in Absalom’s bustling Foreign Quarter. With one successful operation under their belts, the future looks bright for these heroes, and the city rests a little easier knowing they’re on watch.
Everything Fried
The heroes of Edgewatch found themselves in the thick of another uproar yesterday, this time in the bustling Precipice Quarter marketplace. Known for its eclectic mix of vendors and local goblin entrepreneurs, the market was full of life—until a firebomb lit the fuse of chaos.
Fire in the Marketplace
The heroes arrived just as Pemlo, a fiery-tempered goblin cook, hurled a firebomb at a rival stall, Everything Fried. The bomb erupted in flames, sending market-goers scattering. Catis, always quick to act, charged forward, attempting to apprehend Pemlo. At the same time, Cole positioned himself in front of Pemlo’s stall, trying to contain the situation. But just as they thought they were gaining control, things took a turn.
Grunka, another goblin chef and Pemlo’s rival, wasn’t pleased with the heroes’ interference in their culinary feud. In a heated act of defiance, Grunka flung a vial of Lesser Alchemist’s Fire at Cole, who was immediately engulfed in flames. As his coat burned, Cole quickly dropped to the ground, rolling to extinguish the flames.
Goblin Wrangling: Diplomacy and Deception
Despite the fiery interruption, the heroes pressed on. Glum, the ever-resourceful goblin fighter, stepped in and used his knowledge of goblin culture to frighten Pemlo into surrendering. Glum spun an elaborate tale of a notorious "Goblin Jail" in Absalom, reserved for the most troublesome goblins. Wide-eyed and terrified at the prospect of incarceration, Pemlo allowed himself to be cuffed and taken into custody.
While Cole patted out the last embers on his coat, Catis and Arrem moved quickly to assess the damage at Everything Fried. The smell of burning oil and smoke filled the air, and the heroes soon realized that the barrels of cooking oil, stacked haphazardly around the stall, were at risk of exploding. Without wasting a moment, they began clearing civilians from the vicinity. Catis approached the stall, shouting for people to take cover, as Grunka made a hasty retreat from the impending blast.
The Explosive Finale
The heroes managed to evacuate the area just as the barrels of oil ignited. The explosion sent a thick plume of black smoke billowing into the sky, and the force of the blast rattled nearby stalls. Fortunately, thanks to the swift actions of the Edgewatch, no bystanders were injured in the explosion.
Grunka and Pemlo, now subdued and cuffed, were led away by the heroes, squabbling about who would become the head chef at the fictitious Goblin Jail. Unbeknownst to them, Glum’s made-up story had convinced them both that their culinary ambitions would continue within the confines of their new “prison.”
Order Restored: A Job Well Done
Once again, the heroes demonstrated their resourcefulness and courage, managing to contain the chaos and protect the marketplace from further destruction. The marketplace’s goblin vendors may be fiery, but the rookies of Edgewatch have shown that they can handle even the most explosive of encounters—both literally and figuratively.
With two notorious troublemakers now behind bars (or at least, believing they are), the Edgewatch team has proven once again that they are up to the task of keeping Absalom’s streets safe, one goblin at a time.
The Walking Dead
In the mist-shrouded streets of Absalom’s Precipice Quarter, the Edgewatch rookies—Cole Umburo, Catis, Glum, and Arrem Kyndari—encountered a terror that tested their courage and skill. The quarter’s haunted past had resurfaced, and it fell to these rookies to stand against its darkness.
The Stirring in the Shadows
As the heroes patrolled the abandoned ruins of the Precipice Quarter, the air hung heavy with whispers of ancient evil. The quarter, with its crumbling buildings and twisted skeletal trees, loomed eerily in the glow of their lanterns. The distant screams of terrified civilians echoed down a forgotten, derelict street, urging the heroes to advance cautiously.
With their senses heightened, the patrol pressed forward, discovering the source of the cries—three civilians and a prize badger, cornered by four shambling undead skeletons. The heroes knew they had no time to lose; the safety of the innocents depended on their swift action.
Battle with the Undead Horde
Cole, the ever-vigilant investigator, quickly assessed the situation, shouting commands to his companions. The skeletal figures stumbled forward, their eyeless sockets glowing faintly in the night. Catis, moving with the precision of a practiced duelist, surged into the fray. His rapier flashed as he danced between the skeletons, expertly slashing and deflecting their bony limbs.
Glum, though visibly shaken by the sight of the undead, summoned his courage. With a fierce snarl, he charged forward, wielding his trusty Horsechopper. Despite his fear, Glum’s small size worked to his advantage as he ducked and weaved through the skeletal ranks, targeting their legs and smashing their bones with well-aimed strikes.
Arrem joined the fray, his morningstar swinging with righteous fury. Guided by his faith, he aimed for the skulls of the undead, shattering them with a single blow. Each swing of his weapon released a brief flash of light from his holy symbol, illuminating the street in a warm glow that pushed back the chill of the night. Together, the heroes formed a protective line, ensuring the safety of the civilians as they fought.
The heroes, coordinated and relentless, dismantled the skeletons one by one, reducing them to piles of brittle bones. Their quick thinking and combat prowess shielded the innocent lives from harm, and the undead were finally laid to rest.
Aftermath and Reflection
As the last skeleton crumbled to the ground, a heavy silence settled over the street. The fog continued to cling to the air, but the unnatural chill had lifted. The heroes paused, taking a moment to catch their breath amidst the shattered remains of the undead horde. Arrem’s holy symbol glowed faintly, casting a soft light that brought warmth to the shadowed ruins.
Catis wiped his blade clean, scanning the mist for any signs of further danger, while Cole remained alert, ensuring the safety of the civilians and the prize badger they had rescued.
Arrem knelt briefly among the broken bones, offering a quiet prayer to Abadar, seeking peace for the souls who had been disturbed. The heroes stood victorious, but as they prepared to move on, they knew that the Precipice Quarter still held secrets, and they would be ready when the next darkness arose.
With the undead vanquished, the Edgewatch rookies proved once again that they have the courage, skill, and heart to protect the citizens of Absalom, no matter the threat.
