Hostile Waters at the Dragonfly Pagoda
Returning to Edgewatch Headquarters, Cole and Arrem reported their findings to Sergeant Ollo, particularly noting the disappearance of a local wizard and a figure named Mr. Knight. The sergeant, concerned with a mounting list of missing persons, directed the duo to investigate a new incident involving vanished Minkaian stonemasons last seen at the Dragonfly Pagoda.
The Edgewatch Battles The Kobolds
Upon arrival, the heroes encountered a tense standoff. A group of hired kobold laborers had taken hostages inside the pagoda. Outside stood frustrated workers, city dignitaries, and Ama Uomi, all embroiled in a heated argument about how to proceed. The kobolds' demands, confusing and inconsistent, centered on improved pay and conditions. Ama Uomi, unable to negotiate effectively, welcomed the agents’ assistance.
Cole and Arrem entered the pagoda to investigate, quickly encountering resistance. The first room they explored was a fountain pavilion—a warm, misty space with elegant dragon-headed fountains. Unfortunately, Cole triggered a trap that blasted scalding water across the area, followed by an ambush from a kobold scout armed with a bow. The heroes subdued the scout and pressed onward.
In the next area, an open-air atrium with towering lanterns and lush landscaping, two kobolds launched a surprise attack from within the lanterns. Demonstrating tactical finesse, the heroes lured the kobolds from their hiding places and defeated them after a sharp skirmish. One kobold fled deeper into the structure.
Pursuing the escapee, Cole and Arrem entered an octagonal antechamber filled with tranquil art, haunting music, and more traps—this time, hidden dart launchers. After avoiding serious injury, they reached the final room of the session: a vast, partially deconstructed hall with exposed support beams and perilous walkways. During a pursuit across this hazardous space, the fleeing kobold failed a leap and was swiftly apprehended by Cole.
